Denmark, 1960
Danish designer Aksel Bender Madsen created this striking lounge chair, called Karen, for Dutch manufacturer Bovenkamp. It was sold in the early 1960s by U.S. retailer of Scandinavian Modern, George Tanier. A glossy ebonized frame encircles a floating high wingback and supports a cushioned seat on tapered legs. It is upholstered in a brilliant red faux suede.
