Finland, 1950s
Alvar Aalto designed his innovative Fan Leg series of tables for Artek in 1954. This small table, model X601, was produced in the mid-1950s. It features a distinctive five-section fan of bent birchwood, whose joins cascade down the legs, and the original leather-wrapped top with a beautiful patina. The piece can serve as a side or occasional table or as a stool. Maker's label on underside.
