France, 1950s
The French furniture company Steiner produced this striking pair of armchairs as part of their Bow Wood series in the early 1950s. The legs are formed of large curves of golden ash; the ash backrest features spatula armrests. A brass band joins the bentwood base and backrest, for flexibility and stability. The chairs have been reupholstered in a vintage textile in a soft green. A small metal label under each chair is imprinted “Siege Steiner.”
