Switzerland, 1990s
Out of production, this set of ten dusty pink Louis 20 armchairs is a rare find. A result of lengthy experiments with Swiss manufacturer Vitra, Philippe Starck’s ironically named Louis 20 chair is lightweight, stackable, and uses recyclable materials. A single piece of blown polypropylene forms the hollow front legs, curvy seat, and springy back. Polished aluminium, 99 percent pure, comprises the slender back legs and armrests. Durable and easily disassembled, the armchair works equally well indoors and out.
