Walnut and Mahogany Sideboard, Model 4579

By Edward Wormley for Dunbar

United States, 1940s
Designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar in 1945, this exquisite sideboard, model 4579, appeared in the 1997 exhibition "The Other Face of Modernism." With its bold brass hinges and pulls and its contrasting woods, the piece reflects an Asian aesthetic. The center compartment offers open storage with an adjustable glass shelf; the compartments on either side feature a cutlery drawer above three additional drawers.
