United States, 1960s
Designed by Milo Baughman for the Directional Furniture Company, this handsome walnut mid-century cabinet would work as well for an office as for a bedroom.
The lower case has two wide drawers with ebonized pulls and sits on sturdy ebonized legs. The tall upper case features two bi-fold doors with metal closures that open onto a variety of storage options: nine tall cubbies on three rows; twelve shallow cubbies on four rows; and at bottom, two short drawers and an additional cubby. The ebonized wood of the hinges creates a decorative contrast with the warm grain of the refinished walnut.
