United States, 1950s
Part of the Thin Edge series that George Nelson designed for Herman Miller in the 1950s, this wonderful set comprises two dressers in a tawny walnut on either side of a suspended vanity. The dresser to the left, model 4701, is 24 inches wide and has four drawers. The dresser to the right, model 4606, is 34 inches wide and also has four drawers, the topmost of which is divided into six sections. All drawers feature white porcelain pulls. The matching 30-inch-wide vanity, model 4661, opens onto a white laminate-lined compartment and contains a full-size mirror and an opaque interior light that turns on when the lid is lifted.
