USA, 1950’s
This drop-leaf table is both beautiful and functional. Designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller, it can serve many purposes and was meant to coordinate with other Nelson furniture. This table could serve as a console table when closed, as a work area with one leaf open, or it could seat a dinner party with both leaves extended. It features many thoughtful details, such as the unique hinge of the leaves and the stunning grain of the primavera wood. Primavera, which originates in the tropics, is highly sought-after for its unique appearance and is becoming increasingly rare.
When closed, the table measures 18.5″ long by 40″ deep. With one leaf open, the table is 42″ long, and with both leaves extended it is 67″ long.
